| Misc Mrn/Srf Hzd • • • 1 FATAL, 4 INJURED • • • Updates previous misc mrn/srf hzd report from 2 NW Michigan City. One 13 year old boy drowned and at least one other was rescued amid high swim risk conditions at Washington Park Beach on Monday, June 22nd. Per the buoy, waves were about 4 feet with 5 second wave periods approaching from the north. Conditions were favorable for strong structural and longshore currents, and the incident has been confirmed structural/longshore current related per Indiana DNR. In the rescue/recovery efforts, 4 divers (3 MCFD/1 DNR) sustained minor injuries due to rough water conditions near the pier. The boys body was recovered around 7:35 am CT the morning of 6/24/2026. |
